Хельба (пажитник сенной, хильбе, шамбала, чаман, фенугрек, фенигрекова трава, греческое сено, греческий козий трилистник, греческая сочевица, треуголка, верблюжья трава) — популярна во всем мире. Хельба является одним из лучших домашних средств при простудных и легочных заболеваниях, её используют при гриппе, бронхите, ларингите, синусите, пневмонии, туберкулезе, при затяжном, хроническом кашле, бронхиальной астме. Она также является ценным источником белка. Современные исследования подтвердили, что хельба является превосходным лекарством для лечения женских заболеваний. Семена хельба содержат диосгенин, по структуре и действию сходный с женским половым гормоном эстрогеном. Хельба вначале применения дает специфический запах пота (сильные очищающие свойства). Но при соблюдении ежедневной гигиены тела и употреблении достаточного количества жидкости запаха можно избежать. При простудных заболеваниях рекомендуется 2 чайные ложки семян поварить в 1 стакане воды 5 — 10 мин. на медленном огне с финиками, инжиром или медом (можно комбинировать). Принимать 3 — 4 раза в день по пол стакана питья. При сухом кашле очень помогает молочный отвар хельбы. При болях в горле можно полоскать настоем: 2 столовые ложки семян хельбы томить 30 мин. в 0.5 л воды, снять, дать постоять 15 мин., процедить. 

Противопоказания: не использовать хельбу при беременности, так как оно имеет абортивный эффект, а также при вагинальных кровотечениях.
